Information on helping with the cost of your childs schooling.

Free School Meals

Parents do not have to pay for school meals if the recieve any of the following:-

  • Income Support
  • Income based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit, provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs) that does not exceed £14,155
  • the Guarantee element of State Pension Credit

Assistance with the cost of school clothes

Families who are on benefits or on low income could be entitled to clothing grants or vouchers from their local authorities to assist with the cost of school clothing.

EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance)

The Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) scheme closed to new applicants on 1 January 2011. Schools, colleges and training providers have funds to help you if you’re studying or starting a full-time course and face financial hardship. For advice speak to student support services or your tutor.
