Free School Meals

Parents do not have to pay for school meals if the recieve any of the following:-

• Income Support
• Income based Jobseekers Allowance
• Child Tax Credit, provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs) that does not exceed £14,155
• the Guarantee element of State Pension Credit

Assistance with the cost of school clothes

Families who are on benefits or on low income could be entitled to clothing grants or vouchers from their local authorities to assist with the cost of school clothing.

EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance)

If your child continues to learn and develop your skills after the age of 16 he or she could receive up to £30 a week to help you out with things like books, travel and equipment. Whether your child gets this or not will be based upon your household income. The current household income threshold is £30,810 per year, so if your household income is above that amount your child will not eligible for EMA.
